SLC Surge Wraps Up First Cricket Season
The inaugural SLC Surge Cricket team with 15 students and coached by Malcolm Anderson played in three tournaments this year with four wins and just two runs shy of qualifying from the year-end championship tournament.
Local Employer Establishes Immigration Support Program for International Students
According to the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), 72.5% of international students plan to apply for a post-graduate work permit (PGWP) and 60% of international students plan to apply for permanent residence in Canada (PR) (CBIE, 2022). As international enrolment continues to increase, it is particularly important that SLC, local employers, and community organizations continue to work together to enhance and establish intentional supports and pathways for attracting, hiring, and retaining international students and graduates.  
Contribute to a Greener and Cleaner Environment by Going Plastic-Free this July
Do you want to contribute to a greener and cleaner environment? Start by cutting down on plastic use. To promote this, the College’s Sustainability Team is supporting Plastic-Free July! Join the initiative by choosing to avoid single-use plastic packaging, avoid plastic takeaway items (coffee cups, plastic bags, single-use bottles, and plastic straws), or challenge yourself to go “plastic free”!
Indigenous Graduates Enjoy First-Ever Pre-Convocation Celebrations
This year, for the first time, SLC Indigenous Services hosted pre-Convocation celebrations for Indigenous graduates and their guests in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall. Education has always been of paramount importance to Indigenous people. Many Indigenous people face unique challenges in their education journey, however, which is why it is so gratifying to see the success that is evident among our 2023 graduates.
SLC Presents at CACUSS National Conference in Niagara Falls
St. Lawrence College had a strong presence at a recently concluded national conference by the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services (CACUSS) held from June 4-7 in Niagara Falls. A contingent of SLC employees showcased their expertise in student engagement, student conduct, equity, and leadership. Attending the conference were more than 900 student affairs professionals from across Canada.
