Global Learning Opportunities Week: Celebrating Diversity at SLC
Global Learning Opportunities Week (GLOW) took place at St. Lawrence College the week of March 6-10. The first annual GLOW was a joint collaboration with the Global Learning Centre, Belonging, People, and Culture, the Student Association, and SLC Surge. The week was packed full of exciting events that educated and showcased SLC’s rich diversity and multiculturalism to the community.
SCTL Launches New Faculty Development Program
The School of Contemporary Teaching & Learning (SCTL) recently launched a new faculty development program for part-time/partial-load faculty known as the Teaching Effectiveness Program (TEP). The Teaching Effectiveness Program is designed to support emerging educators discover their teaching practice by exploring the fundamentals of teaching.
SLC Connections: Mauritius
When Sean Ozeer, who hails from Mauritius, chose SLC to continue his studies in the Digital Marketing Communications Graduate Certificate program, he’d never heard of Kingston, let alone St. Lawrence College. The Island of Mauritius is among the new countries where SLC Recruiters have launched an awareness campaign to attract and recruit students to study at SLC.
St. Lawrence College Nursing Researchers Target Nursing Shortages in Long-Term Care
Jessica Hogan, a third-year Bachelor of Science - Nursing (Honours) student at the college’s Brockville campus, is part of a research team looking at the factors that could help nursing students choose gerontology as their specialization after graduation.  She presented findings of their research, “Nurturing Nursing Students in Long-Term Care: A Mixed Methods Study”, at the 2023 Kingston Nursing Research Conference on March 9.
Positive Space Workshops and Call for Interest: Pride Month Planning Committee
We are excited to announce the relaunch of the Positive Space workshops that focus on gender and sexual diversity. This is a workshop to provide skills and tools to participants to foster and create more inclusive spaces for our 2SLGBTQ+ community.
