A Well-Being Welcome for Students at Spring/Summer 2023 Orientation
Spring/Summer Orientation Day on May 1, 2023, was a great success! SLC was thrilled to welcome more than 600 new students from around the world to our Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall campuses. Orientation coincided with Mental Health Week, which supported Student Wellness in engaging in a "Well-Being Welcome to SLC." Student Wellness & Accessibility and the Campus Health Centres partnered with keep.meSAFE to provide a warm welcome along with health and well-being resources for our students.
Update on SLC’s Integrated Mental Health Strategy (IMHS)
An update on the advancement of SLC's Integrated Mental Health Strategy (IMHS), shared on behalf of the Integrated Mental Health Task Force during Mental Health Week, May 1-7, 2023, where Canadian communities, schools, and workplaces rally to celebrate, protect, and promote mental health.
Downie Wenjack Legacy Spaces at St. Lawrence College
Helena Neveu, Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, talks about the upcoming Downie Wenjack Legacy Spaces that will be installed on all three of our St. Lawrence College campuses. Inspired by Gord Downie’s – Wicapi Omani – Man Who Walks Among the Stars – call to build awareness and understanding of the Residential School System, legacy spaces build connections of friendship, love, and kindness in reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada.
Call for 2023 Premier's Awards Nominations
St. Lawrence College is seeking nominations for the 2023 Premier’s Awards and calling on our SLC Community to help us recognize our grads making a difference in their communities and blazing a path for others. This is an opportunity to highlight our wonderful grads and demonstrate how their college education contributed to their success.
Pause, Reflect, and Remember on the National Day of Mourning
On any given workday in Canada, three people will die from a job-related fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease. On April 28th of each year we pause, reflect and remember those workers who left home to go to their job and never returned home.
