Nominations Open for the 2024 SLC Employee Awards
SLC Employee Awards recognize and honour SLC’s outstanding faculty, administrators, support staff, and student employees. The deadline to nominate someone who has made a difference at the College for a 2024 SLC Employee Award is Friday, April 19 by end of day. Recipients of the 2024 SLC Employee Awards will be announced at the Learning Connections Conference on May 22-23. 
You’re Invited: SLC Imagines a Better Future Art Showcase
Join SLC’s Footprint club, sustainability champions, and project participants at the SLC Imagines a Better Future art showcase on Tuesday March 26. This term, SLC students and staff were challenged to create their vision of a more sustainable future through the visual arts, writing, poetry, and other mediums. These pieces have been submitted to the SLC Imagines a Better Future initiative which will culminate in a showcase and awards ceremony on March 26 at 11:00 am.
Valuable Industry Connections and Insight for Esthetics Students
We are thrilled to share with you the highlights of a recent enriching event that took place at SLC. Mahogany Spa, a prestigious establishment with two locations and a team of over 100 dedicated professionals, visited our campus to deliver an insightful presentation to our esthetics students. The session began with an introduction to Mahogany Spa, emphasizing their commitment to excellence in esthetics. The spa representatives delved into the innovative concept of "a business within a business," which sparked considerable interest among the students. This model not only fosters entrepreneurial spirit among employees but also enhances the customer experience through personalized services. 
Environmental Technician student wins leadership scholarship
Environmental Technician student Diana Olivar is this year’s Desjardins Ontario Credit Union Leadership Scholarship recipient. The scholarship recognizes Diana’s community involvement and leadership on environmental, sustainable development, social and governance issues.
Students Hold Annual Accounting Hackathon
The graduating class of the Business Administration – Accounting program in Kingston recently held the seventh annual Accounting Hackathon in collaboration with the national charity, Rise. In this action learning event, student teams worked with an entrepreneur to resolve a financial business issue. Entrepreneurs participating in the event were located across Ontario and work with Rise, the only national charity dedicated to helping people with mental health conditions or addiction achieve financial independence through self-employment or small business ownership. Rise provides resources, mentorship, and micro-financing to eliminate barriers, improve life outcomes, and strengthen communities.
