Emancipation Weekend in Kingston
The City of Kingston will be celebrating Emancipation Day with a full weekend of events and activities! Emancipation Day recognizes the importance of the abolition of slavery in Canadian history. The designation of this day is to encourage Canadians to learn more about the history of enslaved people in Canada and engage in the ongoing fight against anti-Black racism and discrimination.
English and Cultural Immersion Program a Success
On June 12 SLC welcomed a group of students from the Secretaria de Investigación, Innovación y Educación Superior (SIIES) for an enriching English and Cultural Immersion summer program on the Kingston campus. The program lasted for three weeks, offering the students the opportunity to learn, explore, and immerse themselves in the vibrant city of Kingston. 
Small Changes Mean Big Improvements to Convocation
June was a busy month at SLC as we celebrated our graduates through convocation ceremonies on each campus. There were several small adjustments to convocation ceremonies this year that are a result of SLC’s ongoing Strategic Enrolment Management (SEM) work.
Environmental Technician Students Succeed with Drinking Water Operator Exam
As part of the Environmental Technician program at St. Lawrence College, second year students complete a Water Treatment and Distribution course. Information and techniques specific to operation of drinking water treatment plants are provided in this course and follow the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Entry Level Course for Drinking Water Operators (ELO) curriculum.
SLC Surge Wraps Up First Cricket Season
The inaugural SLC Surge Cricket team with 15 students and coached by Malcolm Anderson played in three tournaments this year with four wins and just two runs shy of qualifying from the year-end championship tournament.
