Faculty Present Research at National Conference
We had the pleasure of representing the College and sharing our research presentation at the prestigious Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association (CHPCA) Conference in Ottawa this past week. This year’s 2023 theme was “A Palliative Care Revolution.” It was wonderful to collaborate with Tanvi Nandani and Maria Karizhenskaia who are recent graduates of the HCA Program and now part-time professors (with a keen interest in research) in our program!
Embracing Legacy: SLC's Tipi Project and Its Enduring Impact
The Tipi Project at St. Lawrence College's Kingston campus stands as a testament to collaboration, cultural respect, and educational innovation. Initiated in early 2023, this endeavor brought together students, staff, and skilled trades experts under the guidance of Indigenous Knowledge Keeper Helena Neveu. Guided by Anishinaabe Elder Bernard Nelson, the Tipi was ceremonially erected, becoming a physical embodiment of unity and tradition on campus.
Students Learn How the Journey of Truth and Reconciliation Continues Beyond Orange Shirt Day
In a two-part collaboration, I worked with Community and Justice Services (CJS) students to explore Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being while learning about specific events that occurred in the history of Indigenous Peoples and the impacts of those events today.
SLC Launches New Recognition Program for College Innovation
The Innovation and Business Engagement department is embarking on a journey to advance Innovation at the College. As we move forward with a number of activities and initiatives related to building the innovative capacity of our communities, we believe it is vital that we recognize our staff that demonstrate the value of innovation.
Devastating world events affect us all
I hope the long weekend presented an opportunity to connect with family and friends, and perhaps to recharge. I know as many gave thanks, many of us were also horrified to learn of the violence, lives lost, and many feared missing in Israel.
