SLC celebrates first graduating cohort of the Contemporary Educator Program
St. Lawrence College celebrated its first cohort of the Contemporary Educator Program (CEP) on June 11 as 13 new full-time faculty celebrated their two-year learning journey with colleagues.
SLC unveils new name of Indigenous Centres
St. Lawrence College (SLC) has renamed and rebranded the Indigenous Student Centres on each campus in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall. Formerly known as the Eagle’s Nest Indigenous Centre, the new name is Waasaabiidaasamose (Whah-sah Bid–eh–so–may) Indigenous Centre. The name is in honor of Indigenous Elder Helena Neveu, whose spirit name is Waasaa Biidaasamose Kwe, meaning Walks far Woman.
PSW accelerated program hosts Minister of Long-Term Care
On Tuesday, June 15, Minister of Long-Term Care Merrilee Fullerton joined Professor Heather Somerville’s accelerated Personal Support Worker (PSW) class in a virtual drop-in with approximately 50 students. The Minister spoke to the importance of continuing to work to meet the needs of Ontarians, and the key role students will play in filling roles and providing care.

Learning Connections Conference 2021 Wrap-up
We had an amazing turnout for our 12th Learning Connections Conference last week as we reached a new milestone by welcoming 568 registered attendees (compared to 487 in 2019). The LCC featured 74 sessions including five plenary events, three keynote presentations, and 66 concurrent sessions facilitated by SLC speakers.
