Since SLC announced in February it was offering the accelerated Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall, the first of three cohorts have completed an on-campus training component on the Brockville campus and are looking forward to a paid 300-hour placement at one of three long-term care homes in the community.
SLC Graduate Wins National Nursing Award
Kirstie Grimard, who graduated from SLC’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program from the Brockville campus in 2020 has won the New Graduate Excellence Award from Nursing the Future (NTF), a national professional nursing and healthcare educational organization. Kirstie is now working at the Perley & Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre in Ottawa, ON. The award was announced on May 1, 2021.
April is Music Theatre Month at St. Lawrence College
St. Lawrence College’s Music Theatre Performance program presents two family-friendly musicals in April. Drama 101 and Going Under both explore the joy, challenges, and connections between high school students. Both shows can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.
SLC Confirms Plans to Increase On-Campus Classes for Fall 2021
SLC is confirming its intention to be primarily face-to-face for program delivery and to restore in-person campus services where possible for September 2021. This will apply to the three campuses in Kingston, Brockville, and Cornwall as well as satellite offices.
SLC to receive portion of funding for institutions most affected by pandemic related costs
SLC will receive $6.4 million as part of the Ontario government’s $106.4 million to help publicly assisted colleges and universities address the financial impacts of COVID-19. This investment will support the sustainability of the post-secondary sector and ensure students continue to get the skills and education they need for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow.
