Trick or Eat 2013 a monstrous success

2013-11-05, 2:36 PM

Enactus St Lawrence College's Help Hunger Disappear Project,  together with the Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) Program, are proud to announce the amazing results of the second annual Halloween Harvest / Trick or Eat food bank collection initiative.

Volunteers collected 7,812.50 lbs of food items during the event held on October 31. More than 2,542.50 lbs of food came from the SLC and surrounding area, with 5,270 lbs of food coming from the Portsmouth and Reddendale community. “The engagement was a resounding success for the CICE program and Enactus,” said Pam Bovey Armstrong, faculty advisor to Enactus SLC.  "It is interesting to note that Kingston's overall collection was 9000 lbs of food, and SLC's contribution was more than 80 per cent of that.”

This event was made possible by over 80 volunteers that included students and faculty from SLC and CICE, and of course the incredible community that is Kingston. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and a special thanks to everyone who contributed.
