First year enrolment up five per cent at St. Lawrence College

The halls at St. Lawrence College are bustling and signs indicate that students are eager to be back in the classroom for another academic year.

"This ongoing growth in our student body is tremendously exciting," Gordon MacDougall, Sr. Vice President Advancement, Student & External Affairs said. "We anticipate 2011-12 overall enrolment numbers to remain steady."

"Over the last decade our student population has nearly doubled. Community Service programs, along with Health Sciences and Justice Studies are still the most popular programs for our students and they reach capacity quickly," MacDougall said. "We continue to focus on providing relevant programs that responds to the needs of the global workforce."

Current total enrolment for the college is over 6500 students and campus totals are as follows: Brockville, 739; Cornwall, 1062; Kingston, 4729. We also welcome international students from over 40 countries attending this year in a wide array of programs. For several years the college has focused on both local and international recruitment.

"Students know that getting an education at St. Lawrence College is the best way to get them ready for the career they've been dreaming of," MacDougall said. "The numbers don't lie. Our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) say St. Lawrence College is number one in the province for Graduate Satisfaction at 85.1 per cent."

All other KPIs remain above the provincial rankings:
