St. Lawrence College celebrates students and donors

St. Lawrence College, Brockville campus, celebrated its students at an Annual Student Recognition event last night. The event was held at the Brockville Country Club and included a dinner followed by the award presentations.

Every year, students are recognized for their academic excellence, community involvement, contributions to the quality of college life, outstanding achievement and professional potential. "The Student Recognition events illustrate the positive impact our donors and community partners can have on our students," said Chris Whitaker, president and CEO of St. Lawrence College. "Not only is it a great accolade for the students that receive the awards but also an opportunity to connect the community to our outstanding students."

Among the 44 awards and bursaries being presented this year, a new award, the John and Elaine McClintock Scholarship, was presented to a returning student who is perusing their studies in a Health Science, Human Studies or Visual and Creative Arts program on the Brockville campus. The recipient, Asher Hani, demonstrated academic excellence in their previous year and strong initiative both in their academic program as well as campus events. As well, The Marianne van Silfhout Bursary for Fine Arts awarded 12 students who exhibit artistic potential. Awards given out last evening total approximately $62,000. The awards are made possible through the generous supporters of the St. Lawrence College Foundation.
