POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to Department Manager, and under the guidance of the designate, the student incumbent works up to 30-hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends), providing assistance in greeting and guiding customers and performing limited administrative related tasks to gain work experience while supporting the operations of the department. The successful incumbent demonstrates strong customer-service, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills, combined with an ability to work under pressure, and problem-solve while working independently.
The incumbent assists the department with a variety of programs and services, including athletic facility operations, varsity sports, intramurals, student recreation programs/events, new student transition events, and other college-supported events. They are responsible for monitoring and providing assistance to those who use the facilities as well as day-to-day cleaning duties of athletic facilities. These students will also be required to perform event support at a variety of varsity and student engagement events and are often a part of the event planning. The student incumbent is a visible front-line position that promotes school spirit and student engagement with a positive and helpful attitude in order to meet the goal of providing students with the best possible college experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as first and last point of contact and support for all users and visitors, performing excellent customer service, handling requests or concerns, and answering questions whether by phone, email, or in person.
- Assists with administrative-related tasks, including entering data, scheduling, and programming, preparing reports when required, and maintaining a log of events.
- Supports varsity and intramural programming, including game-day operations coverage and/or serving in a convener role when necessary.
- The student incumbent provides a student lens in assisting the department with the planning, development, and execution of student leadership and engagement programming.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of facilities and work areas.
- Supports updating information into specific systems.
- Assist in dealing with occasional disrespectful users through escalating conflict to the department manager / designate.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the designate, with occasional duties specific to special functions.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Other Required Qualifications:
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, and collaboratively with a team.
- Understanding of, and ability to demonstrate, the principles of confidentiality.
- Understanding of standard computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Teams, & Email).
- High degree of integrity for maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Start Rate: $17.20/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
- Hours per week: 30.00

Terms of Employment:
- Must be returning to Full-Time studies in the Fall 2025 semester.
- Must be in good academic standing for full duration of employment.
