POSITION SUMMARY
Reports to Department Manager, and under the guidance of the designate, the student incumbent works up to 12-hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends) providing assistance in greeting and guiding customers and performing limited administrative related tasks to gain work experience while supporting the operations of the department. The successful incumbent demonstrates strong customer-service, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills, combined with an ability to work under pressure, and problem-solve while working independently.
The position provide assistance to the staff, students and faculty responding to general inquiries and escalating as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports staffing of department and student users by responding (in person, by phone or email) to general queries and escalating as required.
- Shipping/receiving, unpacking and installation (lifting and moving) computer equipment.
- Media equipment bookings; projectors, computer carts, audio/visual equipment, etc.
- Assist in the equipment loaning and tracking.
- Ensure adherence to established practices and procedures.
- Maintain printers: paper, cartridges, resolve problems or refer for technical expertise.
- Enforce lab/classroom protocol. Monitor V-Tel Lab: ensure opening for scheduled classes, equipment shutdown and lab is locked up.
- Assist students with network & email account problems.
- Performs other miscellaneous, related duties as assigned by the designate, with occasional duties specific to special functions (e.g., orientation or open house events, awards dinners).
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Other Required Qualifications:
- General knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, and installation methods.
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Time management, strong organizational skills, and an attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively work independently with instruction, or collaboratively as part of a team.
- General knowledge of standard computer applications (MS word, Excel, Teams, & Email).
- High degree of integrity for maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location.
Salary & Terms
- Start Rate: $17.20/hour, (plus 6% in lieu of vacation)
- Hours per week: Up to 12

- Must be currently enrolled in Full-Time studies at St. Lawrence College.
