Overview
This program prepares students for a career in home inspection, a consulting service crucial for informed home buying decisions. Developed in collaboration with Carson Dunlop and Associates and the Ontario Association of Home Inspections (OAHI), it follows the ASHI/CAHPI Standards of Practice, ensuring a consistent minimum standard for fee-paid home inspections.
Endorsed by ASHI and CAHPI across multiple provinces, the curriculum covers ten subjects detailing house systems like roofing, structure, electrical, and plumbing. Emphasis is on practical knowledge and professional skills needed in this growing industry, distinguishing it from traditional contractor knowledge.
Completion of the ten courses in this program meets part of OAHI's academic entrance criteria with a required 70% average per course. Students also need to finish OAHI's Defect Recognition and Reporting Course and Ontario Building Code courses: Part Nine – Building Envelope and Part Nine – Health and Safety.
To successfully complete this program, participants must complete ten (10) compulsory courses.
