Designer Bio
Hi there, my name is Sarah Lavoie and I am a 21 year old graphic designer from Kingston, ON. I have always had a creative mind and a passion for design from a young age. Before starting my studies, I had no idea there was an existing program that was able to turn my hobbies into a career. The Graphic Design program at St. Lawrence College has given me the opportunity to find my path and I am grateful for it. I focus my work in the direction of print design, brand identity, and user interface. However, I am not limited to expanding my skillset and taking on a challenge. I hope to inspire others with my visual communication and continue growing. If you wish to keep in touch and follow my journey, do not hesitate to add me.

Course
Brand Identity Design II
Typography V
Objective
The objective was to choose a non-profit organization in need of a logo redesign while creating a full brand package.
Description
Oceanic Society is a non-profit organization that works to improve ocean health by deepening connections between people and nature to address the root of its cause: human behaviour. Oceanic Society works to connect people to the ocean and build a movement dedicated to solving key ocean problems of our time. From background research, I was able to get all the necessary information and focus on the values of the company to help shape the logo. A brand book was created with supporting stationery to expand on the project. To finalize everything, a client slideshow was created to present details of the process along with a written rationale.

Graphic Design III
Objective
The objective was to choose a non-profit organization and create a poster with a visual metaphor based on one fact. The goal of the poster was to raise awareness on the topic.
Description
The one fact poster targets a non-profit organization called Save The Elephants. The metaphor is a close-up of an elephant's perspective of ivory tusks burning. Trauma and emotions are shown caused by the dangers of the ivory trade. To make this visually powerful, I used acrylic paint on a canvas to achieve texture to represent an elephant's rough and creased skin. I then went into Photoshop to do some editing to bring out highlights and use an effect around the imagery to make a connection with the ongoing disappearance of elephants.
