All applicants to the Music Theatre - Performance program must successfully audition to be considered for admission into the program.

St. Lawrence College Applicants

After you have applied for the Music Theatre - Performance program (1012) at ontariocolleges.ca, take the next steps to book an audition:  

1. Complete the Audition & Personal Statement Form

2. Send your completed form by email to auditions@sl.on.ca

  • Applicants will receive an email upon receipt of completed form.

3. Pay the audition fee online through your bank

  • The cost of the audition is $50.00 PREPAID.
  • Payee account: St. Lawrence College
  • Account number is the letter S followed by your St. Lawrence College student number (example: S1234567).
  • Payment must be received before booking an audition.
  • Payment and registration must be completed no later than Thursday for a Saturday or Sunday audition.

4. Book your audition with Janet Venn-Jackson, Program Coordinator

  • Email jvennjackson@sl.on.ca to book an in-person or electronic audition.
  • Audition dates and locations are listed below.
  • Registration for auditions is first-come, first-served.
  • We accept electronic auditions between February 1 and August 15, for those who can't make it to an audition in person. See Electronic Auditions below.

Queen's University Applicants

After you have applied for the Bachelor of Music Theatre at ouac.ca, take the next steps to book an audition:

1. Complete the Audition & Personal Statement Form

2. Send your completed form by email to auditions@sl.on.ca

  • You will receive your login information to slc.me by email once you have submitted your audition form to auditions@sl.on.ca
  • Please allow 48 business hours upon receipt of form to receive your St. Lawrence College student number and login information

3. Pay the audition fee online through your bank

  • The cost of the audition is $50.00 PREPAID.
  • Payee account: St. Lawrence College
  • Account number is the letter S followed by your St. Lawrence College student number (example: S1234567).
  • Payment must be received before booking an audition.
  • Payment and registration must be completed no later than Thursday for a Saturday or Sunday audition.

4. Book your audition with Janet Venn-Jackson, Program Coordinator

  • Email jvennjackson@sl.on.ca to book an in-person or electronic audition.

Prepare for your in-person audition

  • Be prepared to sing two songs; one ballad and one up tempo. Choose something that is appropriate to your character, personality type, and age. Bring your sheet music with you. An accompanist will be provided. Please do not bring a CD, tape, or instrument.
  • Prepare a 1 ½ minute monologue of your choice. The monologue should be from a contemporary play that is age appropriate and not longer than a minute and a half.
  • Your audition will include one short dance combination in a group that will be taught to you at the beginning of your audition by our choreographer. Be sure to dress accordingly.
  • Please note that a short musical theory assessment will be administered as part of the audition process.

Electronic Auditions

If you can't audition in person, you can submit an electronic audition. The cost of the audition is $50.00 PREPAID. Submissions are accepted from February 1 to August 15. Follow the steps for booking and paying your audition.

  • Send us a YouTube video that includes all required audition elements.
  • In your YouTube video, ensure you present a classical plié, a classical tendu, a single or double pirouette right and left side, a time step and a one-minute dance combination of the musical theatre genre.

  • Send your completed YouTube video to Janet Venn-Jackson at jvennjackson@sl.on.ca.

Student for a Day Program
