Program Suspensions

St. Lawrence College (SLC) has announced the suspension of intakes to some programs beginning with the spring, 2025 semester. Despite these changes, SLC remains committed to supporting students, employers, and the broader Eastern Ontario community with their training and workforce needs. The following FAQ is intended to help address questions that students, their supporters, or the general community may have.

Students currently enrolled in a program that is being suspended are not impacted and can continue their studies as originally planned. Students who have applied to study in a suspended program will be contacted directly and provided with options to choose from.

See the full list of suspended intakes here.

Nothing changes. You will continue attending courses at SLC and can progress to graduating as originally planned. Additionally, the requirements (course load and academic achievement) and structure of SLC programs that are currently underway remain unchanged.

A student pausing their studies in a program that is being suspended would have several options when ready to resume. In certain cases where specialized courses are required to complete the program, your Student Success Facilitator can work with you on an individual basis to determine the options available.

Ontario colleges have had to respond to drastic changes in government policy that are impacting their ability to continue offering the number of programs and intakes they did in previous years. Resulting drops in enrolment and impacts to the financial viability of programs has led to the need to reduce the number of intakes SLC offers.

Absolutely not. Students completing a program from SLC are earning a credential that reflects their hard work in a practical, high-quality program. Graduates become part of the global alumni community of both institutions with all the rights and privileges granted to other graduates.
