St. Lawrence College (SLC) Esthetician student Alexandra Fox has won the silver medal at the national skills competition in Edmonton, and now has a chance to qualify for the world competition in Kazan, Russia in August 2019. The qualifying round takes place in Halifax next May, 2019.
Alexandra, who hails from Peterborough, ON, was one of nine competitors at the national skills competition. The students had to complete an advanced facial, fantasy make up and nails with a Russian theme, a manicure with nail art, and a pedicure with red polish.
“Having a chance to compete for a spot in the world competition is beyond what I could have hoped for,” Alexandra said. “The support I’ve had from my faculty at SLC has been incredible and I hope to make my school proud.”
In the last nine years, SLC students have won six gold medals, two silver, and one bronze. Two past students have also competed in the world competitions; Kaitlyn Hoiles competed in Brazil in 2015, and Anne Matiowsky in Abu Dhabi in 2017.
