St. Lawrence College Students Achieve 100 Per Cent Pass Rate on Certification Exam

MLS students

St. Lawrence College’s (SLC) Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) students achieved a 100 per cent pass rate on their Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) certification exam – an exceptional result for the entire class to achieve. This remarkable accomplishment underscores the exceptional quality of education and training provided at SLC.

“We are so proud of our students for this amazing accomplishment,” said Dr. Barb LeBlanc, Associate VP Academic, Dean Health and Wellness at SLC. “We know they are well equipped to pursue their careers as healthcare professionals, and that is a testament to their hard work and dedication to their studies.”

The timing of this news is as perfect as, as it coincides with the celebration of National Medical Laboratory Week, April 14-20, 2024, a time to recognize and honor the vital work of medical laboratory professionals in healthcare. As part of the week, Kingston’s City Hall will be illuminated with indigo lights to mark their contributions.

"This achievement is a testament to the hard work of our students and the incredible leadership and expertise of our faculty and staff, in supporting students on their academic journey,” said Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO. "We are always thrilled to see our students excel and these exam results reflect the professionalism and knowledge our graduates apply in making significant contributions to the field of medical laboratory science and its essential role in healthcare.”

SLC has offered the MLS program since 1998 on its Kingston campus. Graduates find careers in hospital laboratories, private laboratories, and public health institutions, as well as research laboratories, clinics, businesses, and industry.
