St. Lawrence College (SLC) announced this week the reorganization of its Academic program portfolio to ensure its structure best aligns with today’s industry, labour markets, and global trends, while ensuring the College is best positioned for development and growth. The changes will go into effect July 6, 2021, with internal program teams meetings taking place throughout the month of June.
The realignment will cluster similar and complementary programs together under the leadership expertise of deans and associate deans. The changes planned will require the continued engagement and development of SLC’s high-performing academic team while ensuring the College has the expertise, roles, and opportunities needed today and in the future. The new structure is specific to faculties, program portfolios, and the academic support structure. Brockville and Cornwall campus deans retain their responsibilities as leaders in their communities.
"Our greatest resource is our talent," said Eileen De Courcy, Sr. Vice President Academic, St. Lawrence College. "Our new tri-campus program approach will support better coordination and mobilization of our academic division which will allow us to play a crucial role in advancing opportunities within each of our communities. We will be better poised to support our current and future students address challenges related to social issues, economic and environmental sustainability. I am excited about the possibilities the future will bring and how our faculty and academic staff can contribute to innovative teaching and learning in new ways."
"These are exciting and important changes for SLC, and they reflect our commitment to be one College, with three campuses serving the Eastern Ontario region and beyond, while attracting students from around the world," said Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO, St. Lawrence College. "I want to thank my colleagues who have worked to support this evolution, and to those who are actively participating in helping these changes become reality. Together, we take our role as a community college seriously, and this update to our Academic program portfolio structure will position us well to continue doing what we do best, which is education and training, connection and growth while innovating and building community."
