St. Lawrence College Interim VP Student Affairs to Continue Role

placeholder logo

Michael Cooke, who joined St. Lawrence College (SLC) as Interim Vice President, Student Affairs in February 2021, will continue in this role until the College resumes its search for a permanent replacement in spring 2021.
Prioritizing stability as the College gets set to resume face-to-face classes in the fall, the decision to pause the search for this critical role makes sense, according to Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO.
“I want to focus our energy on fall planning and the new school year,” Vollebregt said. “Our goal now is to have a permanent VP Student Affairs in their role by fall 2022. I would like to thank Michael for agreeing to continue serving in an interim role, and for the strategic focus he offers and for his commitment to our staff and students. I also would like to thank those who served on our recent search panel and appreciate their support for this decision.”
Michael brings more than 35 years of educational leadership experience to SLC; his roles have included Acting President, Vice President Academic, and Vice President Advancement at George Brown College in Toronto, as well as interim Vice President Academic and Chief Learning Office at Loyalist College in Belleville.
While Michael has formally retired, he continues to pursue his passion for education and student success through his consulting business, sharing his expertise and leadership serving Ontario colleges requiring interim support.
