St. Lawrence College (SLC) will host a grand opening of the Centre for Behavioural Studies on Wednesday, January 16. The grand opening is the culmination of the Hello Future Capital Project, the largest expansion and renewal project in the history of St. Lawrence College.
Media and members of the community are invited to join SLC students and staff for the grand opening celebration. Attendees will tour the new facility and enjoy socializing and refreshments between 1:30 pm and 3:00pm.
The Centre for Behavioural Studies is located in the historically designated Newcourt House. Built in 1842, the house was renovated and redeveloped to create a permanent home for the Centre for Behavioural Studies, a hub for researchers, faculty, students, behaviour analysts and community service providers to work together to advance the science of behaviour analysis.
The Centre for Behavioural Studies supports the College’s mission of providing high-quality education, by delivering innovative learning opportunities and preparing career-ready graduates, according to Glenn Vollebregt, SLC President and CEO.
“The Centre benefits SLC students in our cluster of behavioural science programs by ensuring all programming provides quality learning opportunities, as well as advanced placement and applied research opportunities,” said Vollebregt. “The Centre also serves a need within our community, with direct intervention services offered to individuals and groups in Kingston. We’re thrilled to be unveiling this unique place to the public.”
