Marianne van Silfhout Gallery

Marianne van Silfhout Gallery at St. Lawrence College

The Marianne van Silfhout Gallery is a state-of-the-art community art gallery located at the front atrium of the Brockville campus and is a focus for the visual arts for Brockville and the larger Eastern Ontario area. Creation of the gallery was made possible by a bequest from the estate of Marianne van Silfhout, a graduate of the Fine Art program at St. Lawrence College, as well as numerous donors to the St. Lawrence College Foundation. Behind this gift is Marianne’s belief that wilderness adventure and education and art are inextricably bound together in an experience of enduring value and benefit to humanity. The bequest also funds bursaries for both part-time and full-time Fine Arts students at St. Lawrence College.

The Gift of a Lifetime

Leaving a gift to St. Lawrence College is a thoughtful way to create an ongoing legacy for future generations. Planned gifts, regardless of their size, can assist the College in fulfilling its mission by meeting the education and training needs of students in our communities. Consideration of a gift today can make a lasting difference for the students of tomorrow.

A planned gift can help you achieve your tax and financial goals, as well as your philanthropic goals, and it can help you make a much larger gift than otherwise possible. Your gift can provide direct funding, or it can establish an endowment, for the faculty, school or department of your choice. You may also make your gift in honour or in memory of a special person in your life. With a little planning, you can create a truly lasting legacy for generations to come.

What is a Planned Gift

A planned gift is a charitable donation which can be arranged during your lifetime, but is not available to the College until sometime in the future. The most common type of planned gift is a bequest, but there are many giving vehicles:

  • Bequests
  • Cash and securities
  • Life insurance
  • Retirement plan assets
