Artist Statement
As a child in the Netherlands I learned to knit, embroider, crochet, draw and sculpt plasticine. Later in Canada, I continued with these crafts, sewed many garments for my family, and also became involved in quilting. At first it was all traditional handwork to create heirloom quilts. Then through taking workshops, I discovered the fascinating world the fabric dying, painting, stamping, embellishing, and many other techniques that led to my own designs, building on the age-old traditions.
There is a joy in being aware of my surroundings right down to the tiniest detail especially in nature, to inspire my creativity.
