Are you curious about the fascinating world of applied research? Whether you're an experienced researcher or simply curious, Applied Research 101 is your gateway to the dynamic research landscape at SLC! 

Thanks to an exciting partnership with Mohawk College, this engaging and insightful course is now available to everyone at SLC interested in deepening their research knowledge. 

Why Take Applied Research 101? 

This is a year-round course in the essentials of research within the college environment—that explores the nuances, tackling not just what you need to know, but also uncovering the “unknown unknowns” that can determine research success. 

What Will You Learn? 

In just four hours, Applied Research 101 will give you a solid foundation in: 
- A clear understanding of the difference between applied research and foundational research
- Insights into how applied research drives innovation and supports real-world solutions.  
- Understanding how the funding mechanisms, which enables research at St. Lawrence College, operates.  
- Identifying the key factors that drive research forward in the college setting. 
- Knowing whether research is a career goal you would like to pursue.

This course is perfect for: 
- Those with experience in applied research who want to refine their knowledge. 
- Anyone curious about how research operates at colleges and its real-world impact.

How to Get Started 

The course is completely free and available on-demand. To get started, email research@sl.on.ca to request access. Once you receive your license, you’ll have three months to complete it—so plan ahead to make the most of this opportunity!
