Tiffany Sanford, a driven and passionate Tourism student recently distinguished herself in the prestigious Air Canada Future Tourism Leaders Contest, in collaboration with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC). This accomplishment highlights the dedication of our students and faculty.
This competition is no ordinary recognition; it seeks out Canadian students who have made significant contributions to the country’s professional tourism sector. Winners receive complimentary registration to TIAC’s highly regarded Tourism Congress, set to take place on December 4th and 5th, along with two nights of hotel accommodation and round-trip airfare provided by Air Canada. This is a remarkable opportunity to engage with top industry leaders and gain valuable insights into the evolving landscape of tourism.
Tiffany’s application, which included a compelling two-minute video introducing her background, passion for the tourism industry, and her reasons for aspiring to be selected, was complemented by a thoughtful written submission. In it, she outlined how Canada can leverage sustainable tourism practices to cater to eco-conscious travellers—a relevant topic in today’s global discussions on responsible travel.
What was touching about Tiffany’s journey was her reflection on the support and inspiration she received from her faculty, particularly Professor Krista LeClair. “Her passion for the tourism industry and her unwavering support for her students have been a constant source of inspiration.” This is a testament to the impact of our dedicated professors who go above and beyond to ensure our students thrive, both academically and professionally.
Attending the Tourism Congress is more than an accolade; it’s a platform for Tiffany to learn from experts, connect with industry pioneers, and return with newfound knowledge to share with her peers.
