Three Things to Know About Convocation

The words congratulations graduates is surrounded by balloons and confetti. An open door is surrounded by a red door frame.

Convocation ceremonies are around the corner. This year, convocation looks a bit different. Here are three things to know about convocation this month.

  1. We’re celebrating the Class of 2021 AND the Class of 2020. This month, SLC will hold virtual convocation ceremonies for the Class of 2021, as well as the Class of 2020, who weren’t able to have a ceremony last year due to the onset of COVID-19. There will be six ceremonies total: one for each class on our three campuses.
  2. Each ceremony will be approximately one hour long. Anyone can join their colleagues and graduating students and their families for the ceremony online. Rather than calling each individual graduate’s name, the ceremony will feature a scrolling list of graduate names. There will also be pre-recorded inspirational messages from the respective campus and class Valedictorian and Honorary Diploma recipient.
  3. There’s a party before each ceremony, and you’re invited! In the 30 minutes prior to the ceremony, join the Convocation Kick-off Party - a fun, engaging, live event to connect with graduates, faculty, staff, and honourable guests. Watch your email for the link or find it the day of the ceremony on stlawrencecollege.ca/convocation.
