On June 8 and 9, the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) held its 2024 Annual Conference and Awards Gala. During the celebration, SLC alumna Diana Olivar, Environmental Technician program, received the OACETT Student Recognition Award. The Student Recognition Award is offered to eligible students who demonstrate notable volunteerism in the field, community volunteerism, and peer mentorship.
SLC alumnus Christopher Moran, Environmental Technician program, received the Outstanding Community Services Award. The Outstanding Community Service Award is offered to eligible students in recognition of outstanding volunteer service in the wider community.

As a member of the OACETT Board of Director’s, SLC’s Daniel Liao, Dean of Applied Science, Technology and Trades presented Diana’s award. Daniel was accompanied to the event by Michael Carter, Professor of Applied Science and Computing. Michael led a display in the Technology Partnerships Showcase, presenting technologies SLC learners use, and spreading the word about its new Cybersecurity graduate certificate program.
