SLC Employee Awarded for Dedication to Student Success

Caryn Langstaff, Director of Health, Wellness, and Accessibility has been recognized by the Coordinating Committee of Vice-Presidents Students with the Art King Award for her outstanding contribution to student services and dedication to student success. Caryn was presented the award by Michele Beaudin on June 3 during an administrative meeting for Student Success. 

Caryn’s dedication to enhancing mental health and health care programming, and promotion of inclusivity, safety, and retention at SLC highlights her commitment to taking a student-centered approach ensuring service quality and equitable access. Caryn’s strategic redesign of Student Wellness and Accessibility has fostered a sense of belonging, improved access, and reduced stigma for SLC students. Her integration of emerging trends and proactive approach to continually enhance student support, reflects her future focused leadership style.   
 
Michele Beaudoin, Vice President, Student Services at Fanshawe College and past chair of CCVPS shared, “the Coordinating Committee of Vice Presidents, Students (CCVPS) is excited to recognize the leadership and contributions of Caryn Langstaff through the 2023-24 Art King Award. The Art King Award tributes outstanding leadership and contribution in Student Services, both locally and provincially. Caryn's dedication to community and academic collaboration is evident through her collaborative approach within the College, and provincially with Ontario College Counsellors, Heads of Student Affairs and on the Ontario University and College Health Association Steering Committee, and with CCVPS Healthy Campus. As Chair of HOSA in 2022-23, Caryn contributed to every aspect of decision-making and discussion at CCVPS provincial committee, keeping us focused on our core purpose of student success and wellness. Always in kindness, always respectful, she challenged our thinking and made us better.”  
 
Caryn’s dedication and commitment to student success embody the spirit of the Art King Award making her a deserving recipient of this prestigious honour.
