Reconnect with nature and learn about biodiversity on campus as we celebrate the final week of Sustainability Month! The SLC community is invited to get outside and work as a team tracking species through tri-campus bioblitz events. On Cornwall campus, get your hands dirty planting native trees and shrubs. For all events, please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear and dress for the weather – the events are rain or shine.

What is a bioblitz?
A bioblitz is a community-based project that records as many species as possible within a location over a designated period of time. Download the free iNaturalist open data app (available on Google Play and the Apple AppStore) to your mobile device and create an account prior to the bioblitz. Observations must be logged through iNaturalist to be recorded in the dataset. Check out this short tutorial on how to record an observation.
Cornwall Planting
In partnership with the River Institute and Watersheds Canada, on Cornwall campus we will be planting trees and shrubs along the shoreline in addition to the bioblitz. These native species are necessary to reinforce the shoreline and to provide habitat and food sources for animals and water life.
