In alignment with the goals of SLC’s One College, One Student philosophy, SLC in Five’s Student Enrichment and Community Engagement objectives, the Global Engagement Community Development (GECD) program and the initiative to further develop SLC’s Global Alumni Network, a new program named “Ready to Launch” has been developed to further enhance the experience of SLC student and graduate transitions.
Open to all students while also including international-specific content, this two-part transitions series consists of (1) pre-graduation and, (2) post-graduation programming.
Pre-graduation programming is running from late March to early May and includes a mix of virtual and in-person sessions. These will cover a range of topics, including immigration pathways, workplace readiness, tax preparation, housing transitions, orientation to Alumni Services and community programming (i.e. KEYS Next Horizon Program).
Post-graduation programming is planned to encompass tri-campus, in-person events during the week of May 8 and will include a range of sessions, services, lunch and prizes! The events are planned to take place as follows:
- May 8 (Brockville Campus)
- May 10 (Kingston Campus)
- May 12 (Cornwall Campus)
Each event will include a range of topics to prepare our graduates for their next steps, including workplace readiness, immigration pathways by a local regulated immigration consultant (RCIC), housing transitions, Alumni Services as well as an interactive alumni panel. Information booths will also be set up at each event including professional headshots, Career Services, Alumni Services, RCIC booth, SLC+ and more.
