Important information about masks on campus

placeholder logo

Hello folks,

While our on-campus and in-person instruction is cancelled due to the weather, today still marks the return to class for most winter semester programs, and I want to welcome everyone for a new term. Whether you are learning on campus, beginning via alternative delivery, or joining us for the first time, a new semester is an exciting time, and we look forward to supporting you on your academic journey at SLC.

I want to share information and reminders about mask requirements, as anyone coming to campus must adhere to proper mask protocols. It’s important to remember that when you wear a mask, you are protecting others. When others wear a mask, they are protecting you. The College’s Mandatory Mask Policy aligns with current regulations and guidelines from public health authorities, including SLC’s three local public health units.

The most important feature about masks is the proper wearing of them, including putting them on, and taking them off in a safe manner. The following tutorial contains relevant information about the proper use of a mask and applies not only to when you are on campus - it can help with everyday use.

Note that medical procedural masks are available at SLC entrances for anyone who wishes to take one as an added layer of protection. They can be used with a cloth mask to increase protection, or can replace older masks.

Please take a few minutes and educate yourself on how to properly wear and use a mask. The tutorial is short and is intended as a reminder as we start the winter semester. Any questions or concerns regarding masks can be directed to Health and Safety at covid@sl.on.ca. Thank you for respecting the SLC mask policy and for doing your part when coming to campus to protect the health and safety of our community, and please if you venture out today, leave extra time and be careful in the poor conditions.

Have a great semester everyone!

Sincerely,

Glenn
