If you want to hire a student through Student Employment on Campus (SEC) in 2024 we have improved our process, and now accept funding requests for both summer and fall 2024.
Please note the due dates to ensure that your request is submitted on time and is eligible for equal consideration of funding. The deadline to receive consideration for funding for summer 2024 is Friday, March 22 at 4:00 PM and fall 2024 the deadline is Monday, July 15 at 4:00 PM, and you are welcome to apply now.
Requests for fall 2024 will be assessed after the deadline of July 15, and equal funding consideration will be given to requests received before this date. A reminder will be sent in June to submit before the fall deadline.
We listened to your feedback. Requests for student employment positions can now be made for multiple semesters, using one application. Simply select the applicable budget period(s) (semester) on your application and you will be given the option to submit a request for that period. You may also request funding for multiple jobs and/or positions on one application. Please use the "Add Job" button found in the Funding Request section of your application to add a new unique job. Each job will have a table within it where you can list out the number of vacant positions or returning students required for that job.
To apply
Please use this link to submit a request for the summer 2024 and/or fall 2024 period, regardless if the job has been approved in the past. You will be able to indicate if a position is vacant or if you intend to fill it with a returning student employee from a previous semester.
Please note that the earliest start date for student employees for summer 2024 is May 6, 2024, with the latest date of work being August 23, 2024. If you require a position outside of these dates, please message Ryan Corea directly at rcorea@sl.on.ca.
The SEC program is meant to provide meaningful work experience for SLC students, so any employment opportunity should help them expand their skills and strengthen their knowledge beyond the classroom. The scope of employment should support the department’s operations and contribute to the SLC in Five strategic direction.
The Student Employment team will review all applications for summer 2024 and respond to hiring managers with the next steps by April 12. If you have any questions, please reach out to studentemployment@sl.on.ca or rcorea@sl.on.ca.
