Last week, at the Health Care Administration program's "Making a Health Care Impact: Community Project" Showcase, graduating students from the WORK 2005 Community Project course presented their incredible pharmacy policy onboarding tool to Weller pharmacy staff leads, Tarek Hussein, owner and Lead Pharmacist, and Tasha McDonald, Pharmacy team lead.

For 14 weeks, HCA students immersed themselves in Ontario College of Pharmacy (OCP) regulations and procedures, policy research, and development to help Weller Pharmacy create a more seamless on-boarding tool for new staff members. Students developed and refined project management, critical analysis, policy review, website design, and communication skills. Students presented their curated, policy and procedures website last week and Weller staff were thrilled with the final product.

Tarek shared, "These talented students delivered a comprehensive Pharmacy Policy and Procedures "Living Document" that reflects the evolving landscape of pharmacy operations and ensures our processes continue to serve our community effectively. I truly believe that collaboration with community stakeholders, like St. Lawrence College, is essential to driving meaningful progress in healthcare. By partnering with educational institutions, we create opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation, and the development of future healthcare leaders. These partnerships not only enrich student experiences but also enhance the quality of care we provide to our community. The dedication, research, and creativity these students showed were truly inspiring.Their work highlights how community engagement and academic initiatives can make a real-world impact on healthcare practices."

Ekta shared, "Weller Pharmacy is now planning to hire a Health Care A   dministration graduate to continue work on editing and refining the pharmacy policy on-boarding site. Collaborating with Tarek and his team has created new pathways for our students to learn and develop important skills that go well beyond the traditional classroom setting."

Congratulations to the Sem 4 Health Care Administration students and their professors on their incredible leadership in collaborating with local health care organizations in order to improve health care practices and patient care in our community.
