Submitted by Scott Maybee, Professor, School of Business

Students in SLC's Digital Marketing Communications (DMC) program are applying their skills through a new learning partnership with Utilities Kingston. The collaboration will see students develop integrated marketing communications strategies to support the organization’s efforts in promoting proper waste disposal and preventing sewer blockages and backups.

During a recent campus visit, DMC students met with Utilities Kingston representatives Clarissa Ferraz, Communications Coordinator and recent SLC graduate, and Tim Bourne, Wastewater Quality Assurance Operator. After learning about the organization and its goals, student teams will work for the remainder of the semester to analyze Utilities Kingston’s previous campaign efforts, developing strategies and fresh recommendations to educate the community in addressing critical drainage and wastewater management issues.

The partnership continues the DMC program’s commitment to providing students with hands-on experience working with community organizations. Through these collaborations, students gain practical insights while helping local organizations enhance their marketing and communications strategies.
