Commuter Challenge & Cycling Week, June 3-8, 2024

Green text on a white background reads "Commuter Challenge June 3-8." Featured below are basic illustrations of people carpooling, walking, biking, and waiting for the bus

Commuter Challenge 2024 is here! This nationwide event challenges folks to choose more sustainable transportation options on their daily commutes, including cycling, carpooling, or taking public transit, for example. Over the years, the SLC community has excelled in participation through kilometers and emissions saved, so let’s beat our records this year!

The Commuter Challenge takes place the week of June 3-8. During this time, participants prioritize sustainable transportation and track their commutes. Register with your SLC email below by your main campus, and track your method of sustainable transportation all week long!

This year, Cycling Week in Kingston coincides with the Commuter Challenge. As part of Cycling Week, and to celebrate all our commuters, we invite you to register on URSLC and join a celebratory Roll-In-Breakfast on Monday, June 3 from 7:30-9:30AM on the Kingston campus. Don't forget to bring your own travel mug!

Notes for Cyclists

  • Make sure your bicycle is in good working order – check the air pressure of your tires, and that the brakes, chain, and gears are in good condition (the ‘ABC check’).
  • Remember to bring your bike lock! Bike racks are located at the front entrance of each campus, and on Kingston campus students and employees can access secured bike storage facilities.

The Alternative Transportation Calculator is a new tool from Sustainable Queen’s. It is designed to estimate and compare costs and carbon impact of various transportation methods for your round trip to work.
