Submitted by Marie-Line Jobin, Coordinator and Professor,Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology and student Madigan Stacey, on behalf of fourth-year BPSYC students
As the 2023-2024 academic year comes to an end it also marks another important milestone for the fourth-year students in the Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Psychology (BPSYC) degree program as they gathered to present their thesis posters.
On April 10, 2024, 58 fourth-year students presented their thesis in the upper concourse at St Lawrence College. The students have been working on their theses since September 2023 while completing a full-time placement and then continuing their thesis work in January when they returned to classes.
The theses completed by these students varied greatly in topics, ranging from developmental disabilities, education and learning, corrections, gerontology, child and youth mental health, and mental health and addictions. Students either conducted applied research or created clinical resources to support services at their placement agencies. The students were eager to share their thesis results and findings while also celebrating completing their thesis and their fourth and final year of the program.
To wrap up the gala, two students were recognized by the SLC Research Department for applied research academic excellence. The runner-up award was presented to Jesenia Alvarez, and Taylor Rainville was given the first-place award.
Congratulations to all the graduating students in their fourth year of the BPSYC program as you have come a long way and have put in a significant amount of time and dedication to completing your thesis and the program.
A thank you to all the BPSYC faculty and college supervisors for their support, especially to Marie-Line Jobin, Professor and Coordinator of years 3-4 for helping us prepare for the gala and set up the day of. A final thank you to all the supervisors, faculty, and current students in the BPSYC program who came to our gala; we appreciate the support.
