Sustainability Assistant

Job Description

The Sustainability Assistant on Kingston Campus reports to department manager, and under the guidance of the designate, will work up to 25-hours per week (may include evenings and/or weekends). The Facilities Sustainability Assistant will support the Sustainability team to improve sustainability in our operations on all three campuses focusing on the 2020-2024 Sustainability Plan.

Key Duties

  • Preparation of advertising/marketing materials for Sustainability Month in partnership with Queen's University and monthly campaign with SLC Footprint.
  • Support work on Neighborhood Climate Action Program with City of Kingston
  • Assist with data gathering to support the College Sustainability Plan and Sustainability Tracking and Assessment Rating System (STARS).
  • Support sustainability of SLC grounds including promoting recycling, composting, reusable container programs, and sustainable green spaces *Indigenous Garden and possible pollinator garden(s).
  • Assist in the research, development, and delivery of outreach campaigns (waste reduction, energy reduction, climate change awareness etc.) on sustainability at St. Lawrence College.
  • Support student club and sustainable-focused community projects and marketing communications.

  • Competent using a variety of computer software (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint) and social networking programs/software.
  • Good understanding of sustainability.

terms of employment

  • Rate of pay: $16.55 / hour (Plus 6% vacation).
  • This position falls under the provisions of Student Employees in the Full-time Support Staff Collective Agreement and is subject to union dues.
  • The student must be returning to St. Lawrence College in the Fall semester. 
  • The student must demonstrate be in good academic standing and sign a confidentiality statement.
