    Current Opportunities:

Special Topics in Course Design (CSSL99)

Technology and topics change just as rapidly in instructional design as they do in creating timely curriculum. This course will explore trends in instructional design, from mobile learning to simulation software. Concepts of certification or credentialing are explored in relation to online courses and workshops. How can we demonstrate that we have successfully attained a skill in a continuously changing online course landscape?

Multimedia for eLearning Developers (CSSL 96)

There is abundant research demonstrating that not all students learn the same way and therefore it is important to cater to a variety of modalities when designing online educational materials. By identifying the purpose of multimedia design, students will create a short learning unit that demonstrates their understanding of best practices and skills in audio, video, and graphic design. Students will also learn copyright law as it pertains to educational use of materials.

    Taxation 1 (CSSL68)

This is an introductory course to federal income tax in a Canadian setting. Students will gain an understanding of the underlying objectives and principles of income taxation. Topics include employment income, business income, income from property, investment income and capital gains. Personal tax returns for individuals will be completed both manually and using a tax preparation software program.

Prerequisite: Accounting Basics 1 and Accounting Basics 2.

Impulse Control Disorders and Behavioural Addition (CSSL83)

In this course students critically review disorders characterized by diminished control over behaviour such as gambling, internet use, and gaming. These disorders have historically been conceptualized as impulse control disorders and / non-substance or "behavioural" addictions. An overview of disordered eating and sexual addiction will also be covered. Students study the classification of DSM. Textbook Required.
