Duties

Responsible for supporting the existing infrastructure as well as designing and developing new technologies for the College’ LMS website to meet the organization’s needs.  Uses dynamic programming tools and languages that adhere to College Web related norms and AODA standards. Architects websites, designs data-driven applications, builds and integrates interactive Web sites, applications, and services to find efficient client-server solutions. The work may be done independently or as part of a team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Multimedia Production:

Work within existing frameworks to produce high quality and creative educational material Ensure digital products meeting quality standards
Assist in ensuring digital products meet WCAG 2.0 standards
Employs JavaScript, PHP, HTML/CSS, and other technologies to create technology enhanced learning experiences.
Provides guidance to development teams specific to the technical requirements related to proposed learning solutions.
Work with teammates to create user-friendly and visually appealing page layouts and graphics that supplement learning
Designs innovative web page templates (i.e., built using HTML5) used to host content for online courses within the college learning management system (Blackboard)
Creates and adds interactive functionality to existing HTML web pages using advanced programming software
Provides advanced multimedia production solutions for faculty involved in online course development
Collaborates to convert course content into specific learning objects or digital resources using eLearning software
Develops and provides maintenance of multimedia resources, web pages (i.e., HTML5), and learning objects used within online courses
Responsible for creating new digital tools/resources for eLearning Specialists and faculty
Ensures that all multimedia assets have the proper level of accessibility required by AODA and adhere to copyright guidelines
Conducts both formal and informal quality assurance reviews that examines the technical integrity of learning objects and digital content within online courses
May deliver professional development workshops relating to learning technologies and multimedia

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Minimum 3-year Diploma or Degree with a combination of Graphic/Web Design, Computer Programming, Information/Educational Technologies, and some experience in Curriculum Studies/Instructional Design.  Advanced technical knowledge relating to web design including HTML5 programming.

Minimum 5 years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining of Web applications and tools. Experience with graphic and image processing software. Experience in configuring, maintaining and administering web servers. Experience in web project management, identifying client needs and defining technical requirements. Experience working in a client service-based environment. Experience with object-oriented programming languages and with database creation and administration. Experience in using mobile technologies for content creation and digital curation.

Other Required Qualifications:
Strong and diverse technical background that helps the incumbent master the tools of the existing learning environment in a timely manner
JavaScript, PHP, and HTML/CSS
Knowledge of Web design and development using various technologies, programming languages and operating systems.
Knowledge of established standards and priorities relating to Web-based tool design and implementation.
Knowledge of the concepts, issues and standards related to Web, including security, privacy, accessibility and internationalization.
Ability to prioritize own work and respect strict deadlines.
Ability to communicate technical concepts to users in a non-technical manner.
Demonstrated organization, managerial, and project management skills 
Effectively manage several projects with competing deadlines
Ability to coordinate and carry out projects with minimal supervision
Ability to produce quality written documentation and to present orally in a manner that is effective to a wide range of audiences
Excellent interpersonal and consultation skills to support individuals with a wide variety of skillsets

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:
Normal office environment – Remote work. Must be able to work from a remote location.

Salary and Terms

Support Group: Pay Band “J”
Hours per week: 40
Start Rate: $33.06 + 6% vacation pay
Range: $33.06 - $36.12
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: 2 positions, 6-Month term contracts
