This course is designed to enhance a student’s knowledge of the importance of nutrition to our health and well being and the connection between nutrient deficiencies and illness. Topics include Canada Food Guide, the basic nutrients, digestion/absorption, nutrition related diseases, weight management, food labels and nutrition information reliability. Students will analyze their personal dietary intake and activity level and subsequently plan meal patterns and activities that are conducive to personal health and weight management. (3 hrs. per week)
