GENE 28

This course is designed for students in engineering technology. It provides a theoretical background in those areas of chemistry most directly related to engineering and examines the application of these principles in a range of engineering topics. Theory topics covered: classification of matter, basic atomic structure, basic nomenclature and formulae, bonding, stoichiometric calculations, solutions, acids/bases/salts, pH, redox. Some of the engineering topics considered: batteries, corrosion, metals, and environmental chemistry.
