GENE 101

(Winter only)
Anthropology is the study of human culture throughout time and around the globe. In this course, we will examine the strange and wonderful ways that different cultures, including our own, have evolved to solve the basic challenges of human existence. We will use a variety of methods, including the viewing of anthropological films, to develop this understanding and to explore a variety of topics: how different modes of production like hunting and gathering affect social organization; how culture affects the development of human character; how factors such as religion, illness and healing, and communication affect the patterns of culture. (3 hrs. per week)
Prerequisite: None
