Day care for infants and toddlers is a new social phenomenon. The increasing participation of mothers with children under two years in the paid labour force is making day care the norm rather than the exception. While the debate still rages about the appropriateness of group care for infants and toddlers, the reality is that these children require quality child care. This course will focus on developing an understanding of the developmental needs of infants and toddlers in day care. As well, communication strategies for successful liaison with parents will be explored. Finally the hallmarks of "quality care" will be examined as it applies to this age group.
