This course provides students with an introduction to common environmental technologies and processes including pollution control and remediation methods and associated equipment. ENVI 12 will also give students a working vocabulary of environmental technology terminology. A focus of the course will be on various techniques and procedures in water and wastewater treatment which will serve as a primer for elements of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment Entry Level Water Operator Course taken by students in the fourth semester. The course includes an introduction to equipment basics and calculations used by water operators and environmental technicians. There will be at least one field trip as part of this course. An industrial or municipal technical facility(s) will be visited during the course to observe practical applications of the concepts learned. The course will also provide the opportunity for collaboration with peers and learning about selected environmental technologies based on peer research and presentations.
