One of the goals for early childhood educators is to promote positive social and emotional development in young children. The methods that early childhood educators employ in their daily practice help to strengthen children's positive self-esteem, promote prosocial play among groups of children and create a climate of positive interactions between children and adults (teachers and parents). In this course, students will examine how developmentally appropriate practices and a positive environment influence children's behaviour. Students will learn how positive guidance strategies help children develop self-control and promote positive relationships among children and adults.
