DEVE 103

This course looks at the process of goal planning and how it relates to people with a developmental disability. The concept of "quality of life" and how it becomes the basis for all goal planning is explored. The four general steps of understanding, deciding, doing and reviewing are reviewed and although many different types of goal planning systems are examined, it is "person-centred planning" that is emphasized. A number of assignments in which the students apply concepts discussed in class to their own lives gives this course a strong practical focus.
