English for International Students is designed to prepare international students for the academic and cultural expectations at western colleges and universities, and to develop their abilities to use the English language to communicate effectively using conventional forms of academic and professional discourse. Through practical application of the four English language skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking, students will learn how to function and participate effectively in a second language at the college and be better prepared to meet the content learning demands of mainstream courses. Through exposure to the communication skills required to succeed in their chosen field, students will be able to make informed choices about their future careers.
