CHEM 203

This course covers the chemistry, structure, and function of the major constituents of cells including proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids. The relationships between these molecules and their metabolic pathways will be examined. This course integrates the biochemistry of the healthy animal with a study of some abnormalities in metabolic pathways. The emphasis is on understanding the physiological and biochemical mechanisms within cells, tissues and organs, as a basis for understanding animal diseases.
