CACT 131

This is a theoretical control course aimed at determining the controllability of systems and understanding the more advanced control strategies. Students will determine dynamic properties of control systems elements; determine transfer functions of first, second order, and dead-time systems; and select PID algorithms on basis of dynamic system analysis and response. More advanced control algorithms and topics including cascade, multivariable, adaptive control, and expert systems. Practical laboratory projects will require that students analyse components and systems, simulate process systems, select appropriate control strategies, and determine resultant quality of control.
